The Origin of the Innland Cookies

In the year of 1955, Hong Nong invited an old friend who brought along an old English couple (Hughes) who live in Penang, Malaysia for dinner. This English couple later becomes Hong Nong’s family close friends. The English couple likes Hong Nong’s daughter so much and always come to Hong Nong’s house to meet her, teaching her English and how to make English cookies. They treated her like their own daughter. They even successfully blended the east meet west cultures by making Nanyang Western Durian Cookies using fresh durians.

Time passed, Hong Nong and Hughes couple had become like family members. In one hot summer day, Hughes couple decided to go back to England. The couple begged Hong Nong to let their daughter to go back to England with them and continue her studies in England. Hong Nong had considered this opportunities of giving the best to all their kids and therefore agreed to Hughes’s request. Years later, Hong Nong’s family members will make Durian Cookies whenever they miss their lovely daughter. Until today, Hong Nong’s family will let these unique delicacies, strong cultural background and yet meaningful product to be enjoyed by everyone who share the passion.
